The Halftrack pack, like its World War II namesake, was inspired by necessity.  The needs are fairly straightforward:  carry heavy stuff, and make the thing that does it easy to use. The halftrack vehicle-type was developed because it could carry heavy stuff, like anti-aircraft guns, and yet it was easy enough to drive that you could turn any knucklehead with a driver's license loose with it.

The Halftrack is an extremely versatile and popular 3-day pack.  It features two levels of varying-sized tuck-pockets lining its interior, MOLLE-style Padlock webbing racks inside and out, and a fold-down shelf that can be used to divide the main compartment into upper and lower chambers.

It will carry two 3-liter hydration kits, mounted in side pockets, or two 2-liter bladders in side-sleeves if you want to keep the main side pockets free for other gear. The waistbelt features a 5 x 2 Padlock matrix on each side.

It's well-laid out.  Tough. PALS webbing all over the place.  Filled with easy access pockets.  And, combined with our patent-pending Ripcord Gun Carry System (sold separately), it'll carry a heavy weapon aft of your shoulders, so you'll be more mobile.  But what will surprise you is that you can get the gun off of your back while wearing the pack.

The Halftrack pack is sister to the Phantom sniper pack, and is built from the same pattern.  It's a front-loader, with two levels of varying-sized tuck-pockets lining its interior, PALS racks inside and out, and a fold-down shelf that can be used to divide the main compartment into upper and lower chambers.  A plastic mesh flap on the rear wall serves as a radio rack.

The close-riding, barn-door opening Halftrack pack is built from the same pattern as our popular G3M Phantom sniper pack. It's a front-loader, with two levels of varying-sized tuck-pockets lining its interior, MOLLE-style Padlock webbing racks inside and out, and a fold-down shelf that can be used to divide the main compartment into upper and lower chambers.

A radio rack with large antenna portals is fitted to the back wall of the upper chamber. The pack features our polycarbonate Gossamer frame, is comfortably padded with our deep-cut 3D padding, and is well ventilated. It features a longer waistbelt, with a 6 x 2 PALS matrix on each side.

We are confident that you will appreciate the quality and level of detail in this product. The Halftrack has our unique, hand-sewn support, padding, and ventilation system.  You'll need to try one on to find out why so many people tell us that our packs are the most comfortable they've ever worn.

The pack has our new polycarbonate Gossamer frame, which work in combination with the harness and padding to provide you with plenty of support for carrying loads.

I bought this pack as a back up BOB. Within a few mins I started to fall in love. There are tons of pockets, pouches, inside organizers, etc. The all around quality looked to be good so I loaded it up with roughly 50 pounds and tried it on. I was blown away. The fit was perfect and there are so many adjustments I would guess that almost anyone can find comfortable settings for their body type. I really could not believe how well the weight was distributed and comfortable the pack was. Within 15 minutes of getting it out of the box, I was repacking all supplies and making this my primary pack. I would highly recommend this pack.

Very happy with this pack. Adjusts well and very comfortable to wear with heavy loads.
(Hint: watch the "How to fit your pack" video on YouTube/Eberlestock website, if you have never adjusted the fitting of a pack before.)

I like this pack a lot. I got it for work as a security officer and have to take my gear and lunch and personal items from post to post on a 12-hour shift. It has many pockets/compartments which I needed and the main compartment is ideal for most everything else I need to carry.

What I like most about it is the way it feels on my back. The padding and ventilation is awesome and the shoulder harness is surprisingly comfortable. I've had mine for about 4 months now and I wear it every day. I like the way that the main compartment opens too as it allows enough space to fit all my stuff inside it.

This pack is not for everyone as its priced on the high side for a backpack. I've tried some others and I always "feel" the weight and and the pack on my back. This one is very user friendly and doesn't feel clunky or digs into my back/shoulders. It's also built to last and the quality of the material and construction is second to none.

This was recommended to me by a co-worker who is in the military and he swore up and down I would love it. He was right.

Just Purchased this pack and I must say it is definitely 1 awesome pack. It is certainly built to last a very long time under alot of abuse. I really don't think the photos do it justice because it looks way cooler in person.

If your looking for a good hunting pack/ over night/ 3 day pack this is definitely one I would consider.

If your looking for something to hold alot of gear in tho, I would go with a different option. It is a little larger than a standard backpack (about 50%) but still doesn't have a great deal of capacity. After looking at the photos and watching the reviews I thought it would be a little bigger than it is. I think what is decieving about it is that although the pack is both tall and wide, it is not very deep (internal depth of the main compartment is only 5"/6" if you really stretch it.)

I don't claim to be the "ultimate prepper" or anything, but I do backpack roughly 15-20 mile 2 day trips quite often. Wow. I dig this bag. The two things I like most about it, is the way it perfectly conforms to my back and its size. I was not familiar with Eberlestock at all prior to buying this product. Once I ordered it, I was dreading that it was going to be too big. (Even the name "HalfTrack" sounds big and bulky.) But, I could not have been happier when it arrived. It is actually very stream lined and quite narrow from side to side which is what I was looking for. The garish color of the pack I was using would have made me stick out like a sore thumb in a WROL situation and the material didn't have as much durability as this HalfTrack. The construction of this HalfTrack is hard core and It can definitely take a beating. I feel much more confident about this pack holding up than I would have with my Jack Wolfskin bag. Like I said earlier, I'm not "super prepper", but I think this would be a very effective bag for buggin out.

I have used this many times and had it for a few months. The 35 litre rating is quite conservative. This front loading backpack is amazing. its tough organizable comfortable. i love the little details like velcro to roll up excess on the dangling straps and zipper pulls that hold themselves open for easy one finger operation. an estwing axe and entrenchment shovel fit easily blade down in either of the innermost side downward facing pockets. the inner shelf is surprisingly useful for organizing lighter objects on top when you remove heavier gear from the bottom. the outermost side pockets are not so useful for anything large but you can put small things in and draw the string tight.
it is on the heavy side as bags go but worth its weight.
mine had some poor stitches on the top molle webbing, but i love it so much i cant send it out for repair for fear of not having it for even a day ( I repaired it myself).
I wouldnt change a thing. this is prime top of the line camping gear for me. one of my most important pieces of gear.

Pro:
- Very sturdy pack. Throw it, drop it, bang it up. No problem there.
- Plenty of MOLLE. On the top, bottom, sides and the inside. Very versatile and expandable pack.
- Crazy nice straps. Eberlestock is known for being incredibly comfortable, and this pack doesn't disappoint.
- Internal divider is removable, and actually functional. I'm able to keep my heavy stuff at the top of the bag without it dropping during use.
- Although the bag looks smaller that expected (more on that later,) it holds a ridiculous amount of gear.
- External 3L hydration pouches save on internal space, and if you do have a leak, your gear stays dry.
- Very sturdy zippers. They don't look like they'll be breaking anytime soon.

Con:
- Bag is smaller than I expected. Maybe I didn't do enough research, but this thing looks kinda small for a ruck, massive for a 3 day pack. Unless you have a s**t load of gear, it won't be an issue.
- Bottom zipper (where the rain cover is stored) gets stuck very easily. Actually the very first time I used it, it took a solid 10 minutes just to fix it.
- The inside of the bag is lined with little pouches, which seems nice, but I can't seem to think of anything that could fit in them. Seems a waste of weight.
- There are 5 exterior pouches that have no top. No zipper, no buckle, nothing. So I guess just don't put anything valuable in those.

Solid bag. As a civilian, and all the bags I have used and seen, this bag is on top of the list. As a Army Medic, and all the equipment I have seen and dealt with, it stand up to almost any top of the line pack. This pack is well made, has good room for the necessities like: Sleeping bag, hammock, toiletry bag, extra socks and undies, shirts, food storage and my medical supplies. Just add the saddle bag to it and all that and then some will pack into this pack. What I like most about it is the fact that it isn't bulky feeling or looking like our Ruck Sacks we carry. It's streamlined and fits from bottom of my neck to the small of my back. I am 6'2" 180. The finest part about this pack is the shoulder straps, kidney straps, and lumbar support pad in the back. When adjusted to your size, this is the most comfortable pack ever. I will probably get their smaller back for EDC. This pack is perfect for a B.O.B. or even extended journeys. Highly recommended.
