Please Note: Mountain House does not create "packages" which is the case with most food storage companies. Mountain House sells individual cans and pouches. To save our customers time and money, S101 bundles packages together. Because these packages are comprised of multiple products, it is possible that one or more of these individual products may be out of stock at the time of purchase. For this reason, we can substitute dinner and breakfast entrees with equal or similarly priced items if you would like to speed-up delivery.

When we substitute, we always substitute breakfasts for breakfasts and dinner for dinner entrees. If you have a substitution preference, e.g. an entree you definitely do not want, or entrees that you would prefer, we will try to accommodate, but we cannot guarantee what will be in stock at the time of shipping. Please enter your substitution requests in the comment section when checking out. Use the drop-down box above to indicate your shipping preference. Or, after placing your order, feel free to call us so we can customize your order over the phone. 855-OUR-PREPS

Mountain House Cans
Why Mountain House?

The Market Leader & Innovator

Almost every food storage company makes the claim that their food storage has a 25 year shelf-life. Mountain House is the ONLY food storage company that can walk into their warehouse and open up a 25 year old can of food and prove their claims.

Now, you may want to take a second and let that last statement sink in. To state it differently, EVERY other food storage company is younger than 25 years old and will have to wait, at least another ten years, to be able to open up a 25 year old sample of their food storage.

The fact is, Mountain House can open up 40 year old cans of food, that are still edible! This is because Mountain House started this entire industry 40 years ago building food for NASA. Mountain House's parent company, Oregon Freeze Dry is the worlds largest freeze dried company as well as a long time provider of LRP'S for the US Military.

Simple to Prepare

Mountain House food is easy to make. Simply open the pouch or #10 can, add hot water and stir. In just 8-10 minutes you’ll have a hot, hearty meal you can enjoy anytime, anywhere! Because you can prepare our meals in the pouch or can, cleanup is a snap. No mess!

Best Tasting Freeze Dried Food

Mountain House meals taste home-cooked because we prepared them the same way you do. We mix our ingredients together in a (very large) pot and cook them like you do at home!

Longest Proven Shelf Life. Period.

A pouch of Mountain House that you buy today will taste fresh on the trail today or on your table a decade from now. Mountain House food is good for 12+ years in pouches and 25+ years in cans. When we say our food is good, we mean it will be virtually indistinguishable from new production as opposed to will sustain life. We add the “+” because we know our food will probably be good for much longer than indicated if stored in proper conditions.

Packed in airtight #10 cans

Mountain House freeze-dried foods have the longest shelf life available. We can confidently claim a 25-year shelf life, because our testing has shown the shelf life exceeds 25 years! These independent university studies were performed on actual 20-, 25- and 30-year-old product stored under real-world conditions, which weren’t always ideal -- not on newer product exposed to an accelerated-time environment in a laboratory. In addition, we have personally tasted cans that were 35 years old and still taste great!

The interior and exterior of the cans are coated with protective enamel for double protection. Our canning process removes at least 98% of the residual oxygen, meeting stringent U.S. Military specifications. Your food is protected until you are ready to enjoy it. After opening, we recommend using the dry contents within one week for best results and taste, using the convenient resealable plastic lid between uses. After hydration, treat any leftover hydrated food as you would fresh food.

Mountain House is the Food the Experts Trust

From the bottom of the deepest oceans, to the tops of the tallest mountains, to the battlefield to the poles and back, Mountain House has fed people in every climate and condition. Our food is delicious no matter where you are. Mountain House is great as camping food, survival food, or an everyday meal. Also great as an MRE alternative, Mountain house should be on any camping or survival gear checklist.

Why Buy Calories vs. Servings

How often do you eat the recommended servings on the food that you prepare right now? If you're like me, not very often. So, it goes to reason, if you buy your emergency food storage by the serving, should you ever need it, someone is going on a diet, or you are going to burn through your food preps much quicker than you had anticipated.

Think about this, when you go grocery shopping, do you buy food based on how many servings each product has, or do you buy the amount of food that your family actually eats?

How many calories do you eat each day? The FDA bases all of their nutrition recommendations on a 2000 calorie per day diet. So why do the Survival Food Producers and our competitors offer their pre-packaged food packages based on an average of 1300 calories a day? Simple, it makes the food packages seem less expensive and helps them sell more food packages.

How Does this Work?

If Dad eats 2000 calories a day, Mom eats 1800 and little Susie eats 1400, your family has a daily caloric intake of 5200 calories. If you were to buy a package that is advertised to last "one month", based on serving counts, your family may actually only be protected for ten to fifteen days, unless they eat the "recommended serving sizes" determined by the food producer.

So, if you want to make sure that you and your family is solidly protected for one month, and is eating the same amount of food that they are accustomed to each day, all you need to do is to calculate the family's daily caloric intake with our Calorie Calculator to the left. <<<<

Simply put in the estimated daily caloric intake for each person in the calculator, add the number of days that you would like to be protected, then shop for meal packages that contain the total amount of calories that are needed to feed your family. It's that simple.
